Getting rave reviews is the Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera. Capturing the images is a 1/2.5-inch 5-megapixel CMOS sensor. The Zi8 also features 4x digital zoom that captures video in 1080p, 720p at 30fps, 720p at 60fps, and WVGA (widescreen, standard definition) mode.
According to Kodak, you can record 20 minutes per gigabyte in 720p mode. That's up to10 hours of video with a 32 GB card.
It has a large 2.5 inch LCD screen which is nice considering the size of this camcorder. Kodak's Zi8 also has about a 15 centimeter focusing range for doing close videos. The Zi8 takes 5-megapixel still photos as well.
Instead of coming with (2) AA pre-charged Ni-MH rechargeable batteries as it did with the Zi6, the Zi8 comes with a lithium ion rechargeable battery that can be charged with a flip out cable that connects to your computor. Or you can use the AC adapter that is included.
You can also grab stills from your video at an interpolated picture quality 5 MP size image. You can also view your videos on and HDTV in amazing HD quality with the included cables.
The Zi8 is also the first pocket camcorder to have an external mic jack as well as image stabilization. However, that is a drain on the battery and you would do better and get better results using a tripod.
It also has face detection and available is an optional remote that can be used to operate the camera remotely. You can also use the remote when connectingt the camcorder to a TV when viewing a video shot in 1080p mode.

All in all the Zi8 is a great camcorder for it's size and price range (under $180). For optimal quality I recommend using a tripod. You can take this with you wherever you go and also be ready to capture videos you might otherwise miss.
